Your new house has a pre-existing security system
Many times after you purchase a home, you’ll see that the old owners used a smart home system. All the alarms and cameras work, are hung in the best spaces, and are ready to go. In this instance, all you may have to do is to call and establish a new contract. A Vivint professional will still come to your home to ensure there are no compatibility problems, and they could offer ideas on upgrades. It's a preliminary trip, and you can get your 24/7 monitoring set up without paying for any new devices -- unless you get some new devices.
The outgoing homeowners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to you for a small transfer cost to make your life easier. If the owners are downsizing to a condo or retirement community, turning over the home security service may be an addendum of the sale.
You are looking to move and bring your old components with you
You may want to bring along your favorite Vivint system with you to your new place when you move. It should be pretty simple to do, as many smart devices are plug and play. You can uninstall each device yourself or call a Vivint expert to take care of your devices. Then an expert will put in the same components -- and any new devices you need -- in your new home. Your home security contract will remain the same.
